Ready to crunch some serious numbers? Use the letter point values below to calculate your total score, and write it on your paper. Need a little refresher on how to calculate word scores? Scroll down further for an example.

**HOW TO CALCULATE WORD SCORES**:

Find the point value for each letter using the yellow letter tiles.

If there is a DL on a letter space, double its point value (multiply it by 2). If there is a TL on a letter space, triple its point value (multiply it by 3).

Add up the points of all the letters to get your Total Word Score.

If there is a DW on any letter space, double your Total Word Score. If there is a TW on any letter space, triple your Total Word Score. If there is a DW space

*and*a TW space in the same word, multiply your Total Word Score by 2, and then by 3.Once you calculate the total word scores for every word in your puzzle, add them up to get the Total Score for the entire puzzle. Check your answer with your teacher to see if you got the math right!

Ready to put your math skills to the test? Let’s say the answers for the puzzle below are **friendship** for 1 ACROSS and **secrets** for 2 DOWN:

Here's how you'd score each of the answers in the example puzzle:

**1 ACROSS ANSWER: friendship**

Letter Points: f=4 r=1 i=1 e=3 n=2 d=2 s=2 h=3 i=1 p=4

(Note:**e**was tripled as a TL and**s**was doubled as a DL)Total Word Score: 4 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 4 = 23

Because there are both DW and TW spaces:

23 x 2 (for DW) x 3 (for TW) = 138**TOTAL SCORE: 138**

**2 DOWN ANSWER: secrets**

Letter Points: s=2 e=1 c=4 r=1 e=1 t=1 s=1 (Note: the first

**s**was doubled as a DL)Total Word Score: 2 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 11

Because there is a DW space: 11 x 2 (for DW) = 22

**TOTAL SCORE: 22**

And there you have it — good luck!
